I bought Jan 08 strike price 40 calls of a stock currently trading at 28$. What happens if in the next two months there is a buyout of the company for 36$ cash. Are my options worthless? I’m a college student and recently I’ve been playing stock simulation games online. Hopefully I gather enough capital to trade in the real market within a few years from now. What I do on the simulation game is simply buying and selling company stocks. I noticed some people make a lot of profit from doing options trade. How does Options Trade work? I am new to options trading as my question will soon make very clear. If I see the market price of a put at .25, lets say I buy 100 contracts at . Now when I reach the "strike period" am I obligated to purchase those shares like I would any other stock? Or is my total investment cost just the commission on the trade and (100 contracts @ .25) ? Let’s say the company I am buying a put on is trading at a share, after buying the 100 contracts at .25 do I have to pay for anything else? Question really simplified: Do I spend on the 100 contracts and then never have to invest more money for this particular investment? I just wait for the "strike month" and I could only lose my original , and I don’t have to replace the stock (like a short position)? Sorry it’s so long but I really wanted to address my question clearly.
I have noticed that Windows on my laptop operates with constant attacks and you read about viruses constantly and malware etc on Windows. There are times when software shuts down or is inaccessible. That doesn’t work for trading strategies, because if you cannot respond to the market, you are done, cooked.
